Ayutha FAQ
Answers to common questions about the Ayutha app.
What is Ayutha?
Ayutha is a free Android app with PDF, image, audio and scanner tools: split, merge, protect and compress PDFs, turn images into PDFs and back, resize, crop and convert images, make GIFs, trim, convert, merge or split audio, and scan QR codes, documents and ID cards, and read text from photos.
Is Ayutha free?
Yes. You can download Ayutha from Google Play and use its tools without creating an account.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Every tool processes your files on your phone. We never receive your files, their contents or their names.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Neither. There is no sign-up, and the tools work offline.
Where are my processed files saved?
In Downloads/Ayutha on your phone, and they stay there even if you uninstall Ayutha. Files are named ayutha_<name>, and an existing file is never overwritten. The folder icon at the top of every screen lists your saved files, where you can open or share each one.
Will the original file change?
No. Ayutha always writes a new file and leaves the original untouched.
How do I remove a password from a PDF?
Open PDF tools, choose Remove Password, pick the file and enter its password. Leave the password empty for PDFs that only restrict editing or printing. Ayutha saves an unprotected copy. A wrong password is reported, and the password is never stored or sent anywhere.
Why can some PDF tools not open my protected PDF?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be previewed or edited. Remove the password first, then use the other tools.
Why is text not selectable after Reduce Size?
Reduce Size shrinks a PDF by re-compressing each page as an image, so text becomes part of the picture. If the result would not be smaller, nothing is saved.
Which file types and sizes are supported?
PDFs up to 200 MB; images in JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF up to 50 MB (HEIC and SVG are not supported); audio files up to 500 MB, and up to 20 files when merging. Audio can be converted to MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC. Images to PDF takes up to 100 images, PDF to Images up to 100 pages at a time, and a GIF can use up to 30 images.
Is the image metadata kept?
Image outputs are re-encoded, so metadata such as EXIF is dropped. The orientation is applied first, so photos keep their correct rotation. Animated GIFs keep only the first frame.
Does the QR scanner need the camera and the internet?
It needs the camera permission to scan live, and nothing else: codes are decoded on your phone and the camera image is never saved or sent anywhere. If you deny the permission you can still use Scan from image. Links, UPI payments, phone numbers and other actions in a code run only when you tap their button. For a UPI code, Ayutha only opens your UPI app; the payment is made and confirmed there, and Ayutha never sees it. Check the payee before you pay.
What is bulk scan, and what does the scan history keep?
Bulk mode keeps the camera running and collects up to 500 different codes in one list, which you can copy or export as a CSV file. Every code you scan is also saved in the scan history on your phone so you can open it again later, including its full text, so a Wi-Fi password or payment code in a scanned code is stored too. The history is never uploaded, and you can delete single entries or clear it from the history screen.
How do the Document and ID card scanners work?
They use Google Play services on your phone to find the page edges, crop and clean the photo, so a phone without Google Play services cannot use them. Documents can have up to 100 pages and are saved as one PDF or as separate images. Pages can be set to an Enhanced, Grayscale or Black & white look, which is done on your phone and keeps the original unchanged. The ID card scanner takes the front and the back and saves both on one A4 page of a PDF or together in one image.
Which languages does Image to Text understand?
It reads printed text in Latin script, such as English, Spanish and French, and works best on clear, well-lit photos. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari are not supported. The text is read on your phone and you can edit it, copy it or save it as a .txt file.
What is the usage report in Settings?
It shows how many times you finished each action, for example how often you merged PDFs. It stores only the tool, the action and the time on your phone, never file names or contents, is not sent anywhere, and can be cleared with one tap.
Does Ayutha have a dark mode?
Yes. By default Ayutha follows your phone's light or dark setting. You can also pick System, Light or Dark under Settings > Appearance. The choice is saved on your phone only.
Which languages does Ayutha support?
English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Italian. Ayutha asks you to pick a language the first time you open it, with your phone’s language preselected. You can change it later under Settings > Language, or choose System default to follow your phone. The choice is saved on your phone only. The privacy policy, terms and this FAQ are available in all six languages (pick one with the language buttons at the top of each page).
Is there an iPhone version?
Not at the moment. Ayutha is available for Android only.
